This happened in 1964 when the Brokopodo Reservoir was created. This was a government project which built a dam across the river Suriname. Approx 5000 people were evacuated due to the project and many animals died. A separate government organisation, ‘Project Gwamba’, was sent to rescue as many animals as possible before the water levels were too high. Sorry for the sad story sloth-lovers, but lets pay some respect to this little guy’s mother. MY FEELINGS.
